The problems of the party district could intensify as a result of the measure – more pedestrians, more noise, and dirtier public spaces. Is the only goal to financially benefit a few businesses that run West Balkan-style drinking dens, which sometimes even endanger the lives of their guests? Is it really important that drug dealers attracted by bars open until dawn gain yet another 'delivery route'?
As a result of the measure, there will be no more pedestrians on the affected sections, so littering and noise will not be any greater.
Taxis can basically transfer passengers at designated taxi stands, but according to the Traffic Laws, can stop anywhere for boarding and alighting.
Guests of the party district and passing tourists will stroll around, while local residents will be forced to walk due to the street closures?
According to the Traffic Laws (KRESZ), in pedestrian and bicycle zones marked with supplementary signs indicating specific time periods, outside the designated times, only residents’ vehicles and those with permits issued by the road authority are allowed to enter, and even then, only at a maximum speed of 10 km/h. Vehicles transporting persons with disabilities may enter and wait in the zone, provided the necessary conditions are met.
"Measures limiting vehicle access are continuing"
The reduction of through traffic in the area has been a process that has been ongoing for years, and the new traffic regulations are the latest step in this process. The main roads bordering the district will remain passable by car.
"You won’t be able to get around, and there won’t be enough parking."
In the area, sections outside the new pedestrian and bicycle zones will be accessible at all times, and all properties will remain accessible by car. The number of exclusive residential parking spaces will not be reduced, and several underground garages and parking garages will be available to visitors in the area.
If you are a guest arriving by car to the party district, where will you be able to park?
You can also use one of the paid parking garages, an underground garage, the available public parking spaces, or residential parking spaces during the specified daytime hours.
As a result of the measure, even greater traffic jams can be expected outside the district.
The traffic displaced from local streets and making their operation more difficult does not cause a significant increase in traffic on the surrounding main roads.
Király Street should have gone completely car-free long ago, from Nagymező Street. Why is it good that a lot of taxis are lined up? Locals can't get in, and no one else can either. Why was this decision made? This is a half-solution, why can't certain sections be made completely car-free?
Some sections of Király Street must remain accessible by car in order to ensure accessibility to the inner streets of the block.
Will taxis be able to enter the section of Kazinczy Street between Dohány and Wesselényi, or is it really only those who have a permit to enter there?
No, taxis are not allowed to enter pedestrian and bicycle zones.
Will the access permits be checked regularly?
Of course.
If someone wants to move from there or to there, how will the furniture mover, or maybe the ambulance, or the fire department get in if the entrance is barricaded? What will happen to disabled access?
Those with a permit issued by the road operator may drive at a maximum speed of 10 km/h; the removal vehicle may enter. A vehicle transporting a person with reduced mobility may drive and wait in the zone, provided the conditions are met.
A vehicle with a distinctive sign can enter anywhere according to the traffic regulations.

Can't we solve the problem of having a one-way Király between Nagymező and Kisdiófa towards Kisdiófa in the original order, so that, for example, Klauzál Square can be reached?
This section of Király Street was previously reversed precisely to exclude through traffic. With the proposed traffic order, this part of the area would remain passable, which would thus burden local streets. From Nagymező Street, the inner part of the block will still be accessible via Andrássy Street – Székely Mihály Street.
It will be quite a challenge to get from Síp Street to Dob Street. Have all the routes been played through on a simulator?
Dob Street opens from Síp Street. The section of Síp Street between Dohány and Wesselényi Streets is closed to construction traffic, after the handover of the private investment, the section of the road will become passable. Until then, it will be accessible from Rákóczi Street via Dob Street, Holló Street and Nyár Street.
There was only one thing that should have been done: completely clearing the section of Kazinczy Street between Dohány and Dob Streets. No one thought about this.
There will be no through traffic on Kazinczy Street, and only a very limited group will be allowed to enter. By converting a short section of Wesselényi Street (between Rumbach Sebestyén Street and Síp Street) into a two-way street, Holló Street will also remain accessible by car. The introduction of the two-way traffic on Wesselényi Street will be a test during the summer holidays, between June 21 and August 20, 2025, and a decision on the final traffic order will be made only after the experience has been evaluated.
Has anyone seen how a truck larger than 3.5 tons or a long truck of 3.5 tons turns from Síp Street to Dob Street?
The route is used several times a week by large vehicles (e.g. garbage trucks), the geometry of the junction and the traffic direction do not change, so a 3.5-ton vehicle will be able to turn in, as long as it does not exceed the 2-meter width. Vehicles larger than the current height, width and weight restrictions must apply for a separate route permit in TOBI, in which case the road manager will check whether the given vehicle meets the conditions.
Where should the trash be placed on garbage collection days in the affected streets from June 22nd? Who will notify them of this?
Trash cans must be placed in the same place, and garbage trucks may also pass through pedestrian and bicycle zones if this is unavoidable in order to perform the task.
During the autumn trash cleanup, where can you put unwanted items on the pedestrian streets?
MOHU Budapest will inform the residents of the affected streets in due time about the progress of the autumn trash removal.

How will the elderly living on Dob Street who use Tesco home delivery be able to do their shopping after the new traffic rules begin?

From there, the products can be delivered to your home with a handcart. Please contact the service provider for exact details.

How do repairmen get into the pedestrian streets? Is it true that those who come into a pedestrian street to do repairs charge more?
If the work requires a lot of equipment, it is advisable to request a permit to enter, but in other cases you can park in the surrounding streets. We have no information that the professionals would charge extra for this.
