Marathon weekend reshapes downtown traffic

On Sunday, October 11, at 9 a.m., the section of Andrássy út between Oktogon and Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út will be closed. At the same time, road traffic will also stop on Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út between József Attila utca and Alkotmány utca. Both closures may last until 11 a.m., but the roads will reopen as soon as possible after the runners have passed.

This change is related to the 41st SPAR Budapest Marathon. The race will start and finish on Pázmány Péter Promenade in District XI, which will be closed to traffic starting at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 9. On Saturday, restrictions will be in place mainly along the Buda riverfront and around the Chain Bridge, and on Sunday, along the Danube between the Rákóczi Bridge and the Árpád Bridge.

## Trolleybuses on shorter routes

Several route changes affect travel in Erzsébetváros on Sunday morning. From 9:00 to 10:40, trolleybus 70 runs only from Erzsébet királyné útja, aluljáró, and trolleybus 78 only from Keleti pályaudvar, as far as Akácfa utca. Neither reaches Kossuth Lajos tér during this time.

Bus 9 runs in two separate sections: between Óbuda, Bogdáni út and Kossuth Lajos tér, and between Kőbánya alsó railway station and Deák Ferenc tér. Trolleybus 72 runs from Zugló railway station to Kossuth Lajos tér, and from Orczy tér to Deák Ferenc tér. This change also applies from 9:00 to 10:40.

## Buses diverted toward Teréz körút

On Sunday from 9:00 to 10:50, buses 105 and 210B run via Teréz körút, Margit híd, Margit körút and Széll Kálmán tér. During this time bus 178 runs only in Buda, between Naphegy tér and Széll Kálmán tér, and bus 216 does not run until 10:50.

There will already be downtown diversions on Saturday. From 9:10 to 10:10, buses 105, 178, 210B and 216 run across Erzsébet híd, skipping József Attila utca, the Chain Bridge and Várkert rakpart.

So on Sunday between 9 and 11 a.m., the closure of Andrássy út and Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út, and from 9 a.m. the changed routes of several buses and trolleybuses, affect the area around the district. BKK recommends taking the metro and keeps updating the latest changes on its BKK Info channels.
