On the Trail of Crimes in Literature on KULT7
Crime stories often begin when an ordinary city scene suddenly takes a sinister turn. The preview for KULT7’s event on 5 November offers several such images: a suitcase containing the body of a courtesan, a safe-cracking feat that drew attention around the world, and the dismemberment of a butcher.

These well-known Erzsébetváros cases were also portrayed in literary works. The speaker will be Dr Anna Kiss, a criminologist, lawyer and bibliotherapist, as well as a senior research fellow at the Országos Kriminológiai Intézet, Hungary’s National Institute of Criminology.

A shared investigation on Király utca

The evening is the latest instalment in KULT7’s BŰNÜGYEINK crime series. Its invitation once again encourages the audience to “investigate” alongside the speaker, this time through District VII cases whose stories reached beyond criminal history and into literature.

The event begins at 7 pm on 5 November at KULT7, Király utca 11. Admission is 1,500 forints, or 1,000 forints for Erzsébetváros residents.
