About the Frigyes Karinthy Scholarship
Students in grades 5-12 with a registered permanent or temporary address in District VII who actually live in District VII, attend a public education institution in District VII and have outstanding academic results can receive a scholarship of HUF 15,000 per month for 5 months and, in addition to the financial support, a certificate of recognition, if they meet the conditions.
Under the current call, applications can be submitted on the basis of the results of the first semester of the 2025-2026 school year ; recipients receive the support for February – June 2026.
Who can apply?
Eligible to apply are students who
- have a registered permanent or temporary address in District VII, Budapest, and actually live in District VII,
- are students in grades 5-12 of a public education institution operating in District VII, Budapest,
- have a semester or year-end grade average of at least:
3a) 5-8. grade students: 4,80,
3b) 9-12. grade students: 4,70.
The grade average may not include conduct and diligence grades.
Applications can be submitted for the last time on the basis of the results of the first semester of grade 12 .
The Not entitled to financial support is anyone who, at the time of application, receives scholarship support under Local Government Decree 6/2016 (II.18.) on the local rules for social benefits, social services, and cash, in-kind and personal care child welfare benefits. If you would be eligible for support based on your family’s per capita income, we recommend applying for the social scholarship support.
Where to apply and what you need
Your application must be submitted on Erzsébetváros’s e-Grant Management (e-Pályázatkezelő) platform , where you first need to register → https://palyazatkezelo.erzsebetvaros.hu
Registration must be done separately for each student, For students under 18, we ask that in the child’s name, but registration should be done by the parents (legal representative).
Applications can only be submitted after registration has been approved; the document proving the results of the first semester of the 2025-2026 school year must be attached.
Application deadline
Your application Applications can be submitted until March 1, 2026 (Sunday); however, please complete your registration in the grant management system by February 26, 2026 at the latest , as approval of the registration takes 2-3 working days.
Procedural rules
Detailed rules on the scholarship are set out in Local Government Decree 3/2020 (I.30.) on the Frigyes Karinthy Scholarship.
Missing items may be supplied once ; the request is sent electronically to the email address registered on the e-Grant Management platform, and missing items must be supplied within 5 days of the electronic notification.
Eligibility for the scholarship is determined by the Mayor; there is no appeal against the decision. We notify the student or their legal representative of the scholarship both electronically and by post.
Obligations
While the scholarship is being paid, the student or their legal representative must notify in writing the Mayor’s Office if their address changes or the student continues their studies at another institution.
