The Bischitz Johanna Integrated Human Services Center was established as a legal successor on March 1, 2012 by the Council of the Erzsébetváros Local Government by merging the former Erzsébetváros Integrated Social and Child Welfare Institution (ESZGYI) and the Erzsébetváros Health Service (ERESZ).

Defining the place and role of child and youth protection, family support and elderly care in the life of Erzsébetváros means nothing other than expressing the position this task holds in the life of our local society. The professional programs of the Human Services Center also reflect the philosophy of the local government and the institution: the expectations placed on this area, how the tasks are defined in light of them, and, as a result, the room for maneuver of social services.

The social situation of the district’s residents and support for families in need, for older people with health problems and for pensioners is one of the most important and at the same time most difficult tasks of the local government. Our institution has these obligations not only because of the Social Act: we know that even without a legal obligation there is work to be done wherever vitality declines and the slow erosion of incomes makes daily life increasingly difficult.

The Family and Child Welfare Center (Center: 1073 Budapest, Kertész u. 20.; Service: 1074 Budapest, Hutyra F. u. 11-15.)  performs the child welfare service tasks under Sections 39 and 40 of the Child Protection Act and the family support tasks under Section 64 of the Social Act; as a district-level provider it also performs the special, quasi-official tasks assigned to it by law. It carries out its tasks in professional units, with a division of tasks between the independent units based on legal requirements.

As part of basic child welfare services, one form of daytime childcare is the nursery. For young children raised in their families, aged from 20 weeks to 3 years, the nursery supports family upbringing by providing daytime care. It promotes harmonious development by ensuring the child’s physical and emotional safety and well-being, with unconditional love and acceptance, taking the child’s competences into account, offering opportunities to gain experience and providing behavioral models.

There are three nurseries in Erzsébetváros: Dob Nursery (1074 Budapest, Dob utca 23.), Lövölde Nursery (1071 Budapest, Lövölde tér 1.) and Városliget Nursery (1071 Budapest, Városligeti fasor 39-41.)
