Family protection coordination

The tasks of family protection coordination are set out in Sections 2–4 of Act LXXII of 2009 on restraining orders that can be applied due to domestic violence.

The family protection coordination body deals with domestic violence; as part of this, the body responsible for family protection coordination:

•informs the victim about the measures available against domestic violence, the victim’s rights, the social institutions and services protecting families and children, whether criminal or petty offense proceedings can be initiated for domestic violence, and the consequences of false accusation;

•informs the victim and the abuser about available therapy and other support and conflict resolution options

•on request, hears the victim and the abuser (separately)

after receiving a report of domestic violence or its risk – given the particular seriousness of domestic violence – may summon the victim and the abuser to appear for a personal hearing. The abuser and the victim must appear at the place and time specified in the summons of the body responsible for family protection coordination
